Car seat programs through South Country Health Alliance & UCare
Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC) Program
Comprehensive health care for children and teens, birth through age 20, who are enrolled in medical assistance (e.g. MA, South Country Health Alliance (SCHA), Medica) or MinnesotaCare.
Family Connections Program
A home-based parenting program for expectant women and families with children 0-3 months. Program works with multi-stressed overburdened families of children until they graduate the program with their children, usually when the child reaches 3-5 years of age.
Follow Along Program
Computerized developmental screening is offered to children birth to 36 months - no cost to program participants. Follow Along Program
Maternal Child Health Program (MCH)
Offers counseling, nursing services, education for pregnant moms, new moms, babies and chronically ill children.
WIC continues to operate for our Steele County residents, but face-to-face meetings are suspended until further notice. All services will be conducted over the phone. Please call the WIC office at 507-444-7660 if you need an appointment or have questions. Thank you!
Provides nutrition education and supplemental foods for pregnant or breastfeeding women and for infants and children up to 5 years of age. Eligibility is based on income and medical need.
- Counseling and educational opportunities are available for young parents.
- Family aid is offered for parents with special needs.
- Interpreting service is available when needed.
Healthy Smiles, Inc.
A contracted dental hygienist provides preventative dental health services for children 14 and younger who are on Medical Assistance or do not have insurance. Hygienist provides oral health education and topical fluoride varnish. Referrals are provided when assessment indicates need.
