About: CARES ACT RELIEF GRANT PROGRAMS
Steele County recognizes the hardships and impact COVID-19 has had on business and local non-profits within the community.
In an effort to support and help them sustain operations during this difficult time, the County has set aside:
- $172,000 for the County CARES Business Grant Program: to help businesses in the unincorporated areas of the County

- $450,000 towards the Steele County CARES Nonprofit Relief Grant Program: to help nonprofits throughout all of Steele County

From these funds, Steele County is providing grants up to $10,000 to assist eligible businesses/organizations adversely affected by the pandemic.
Applications will be accepted from September 4, 2020 to October 2, 2020.
The County has also contributed $500,000 to fund business support programs in the four cities of Steele County (Owatonna, Medford, Blooming Prairie, Ellendale). The funds have been allocated to each city to use specifically for business support within each of their incorporated areas. If your business is located within the city limits of one of the cities, please contact the local city government for details on their City Business Relief Program.

Grant funds will be awarded to businesses in most need of assistance after the application deadline. The program is subject to funding availability from the County. The County retains the authority and discretion to approve or deny an application, and reserves the right to subsequently add further priorities, change eligibility criteria, or discontinue the program in response to changing circumstances.
