Steele County Community Services
The Steele County Environmental Services office is located in the lower level of the Steele County Administration Center, 630 Florence Ave, Owatonna MN 55060.
The Environmental Services Office provides information and assistance with environmental health issues and concerns (i.e. indoor air quality, public health nuisances, water quality), coordinates a well water testing program, oversees the county landfill operation, and implements the county solid waste management programs such as recycling, household hazardous waste, and waste education. The Environmental Services Office also administers the Green Source 2020 sustainable community grant project, which promotes waste reduction, resource conservation, and pollution prevention.
The Steele County Probation Services Department provides services to the District Court in Juvenile Delinquency, and Criminal (Gross Misdemeanor and Misdemeanor offenses). The Steele County Probation Services office is located in the lower level of the Court House at 111 E Main, Owatonna MN 55060.
Public Health NursingThe public health mission is to provide health services as needed by the residents of our community to optimize healthy life ways with emphasis on maintenance, promotion and restoration of health related matters and prevention of illness, utilizing a holistic approach. Veteran's ServicesThe Steele County Veteran's Services Office is here to assist the approximately 4000 veterans in Steele County as well as their families, surviving spouses and dependent children. Every year the rules and regulations governing veterans' benefits become more complex and intimidating. We can advise these individuals of the benefits they may be eligible for in the form of Federal Veterans Benefits and State of Minnesota Veterans Benefits, we will complete the forms necessary to obtain these benefits, assist in obtaining the documentation necessary to support a claim for benefits, make certain the benefits the individual is entitled to are awarded and assist the individual to continue receiving the benefit once it has been awarded.
University of Minnesota Extension/Steele County Office
The Extension Office is your first stop for access to the resources of the University of Minnesota. The U of M Extension offers informal educational programs for adults and youth in the program areas listed below. In addition, Master Gardeners are coordinated from this office.
