Human Services Adult Protection

Provides services to individuals 18 years of age or older.  Also provides services to children with developmental disabilities.  The main responsibility of Adult Protection is to assure protection for individual areas as follows:

Mental Health: 

Case management for serious and persistent mentally ill.  Services include reassurance contacts as well as referrals to appropriate services.  Services may be on-going or situational as needed.

Developmental Disabilities and/or Related Conditions: 

Case management for individuals of all ages that have been determined to meet eligibility requirements set forth in law.  Services may range from wellness checks to assistance in placements, advocacy and referral to appropriate services.  To qualify, a person must meet the definition of mental retardation or have a related condition.

Elderly/Disabled: 

Case management for individuals age 65 and older or others with physical/medical disabilities.  We offer screenings to determine eligibility for services, as well as referrals to appropriate providers.  Services available include homemaker, home health aide, meals and physical adaptations.  Person must meet eligibility requirements for waiver services.

Chemical Dependency: 

Case management and referral for individuals who meet the definition of chemically abusive and/or dependent.  We provide assessments to determine areas of concern and appropriateness for treatment and referral to a program that meets the individuals' needs.  Ongoing case management may be provided as appropriate.

Money Management: 

Services provided to individuals/families normally referred through our agency by financial services due to an inability to adequately manage finances.  Assistance provided in meeting expenses as well as developing an ongoing budget.

Semi-Independent Living Services:

Provides support to adults with developmental disabilities living in their own home in the community.  Services are provided as needed in the areas of life the individual needs support such as meal preparation and money management.

Pre-Petition Screenings: 

Service provided for individuals experiencing serious problems with mental illness, chemical dependency and/or mental retardation.  Assessments are conducted to determine the appropriate course of treatment for the individual, and whether it is appropriate to order treatment through court due to the person’s inability to cooperate with treatment.

Vulnerable Adult: 

Protection services for adults defined by law as vulnerable.  Services include investigation of maltreatment reports and referral to appropriate agency/services
