Water Issues

Water Testing

To help assure the health and safety of county citizens, Environmental Services offers a well water testing program. Water test sample bottles can be obtained at the department office. The filled bottle is returned to the office for mailing to a certified laboratory. A small fee is charged for the test. County staff may also collect the water sample for an additional charge. Water test results are explained to the resident over the phone and also mailed out.

Well Sealing

For qualified applicants, a well sealing cost share program provides up to one half the cost of sealing an abandoned well, up to a maximum of $500. Wells to be sealed are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Well sealing must be performed by a licensed contractor. An application can be obtained at the link below.
