NOT BREATHING:
- Open airway - tilt head back, lift chin
- Breathe - give two breaths, blowing in the mouth
NO PULSE:
- Pulse - check along side of the Adams Apple for a pulse
- Compressions - push on the middle of the chest, just above the little notch in the lower half of the chest
CHOKING:
If a person cannot speak - give upward abdomen thrusts and continue until object discharges or the person becomes unconscious
UNCONSCIOUS:
Open airway and attempt to blow into mouth, if unsuccessful, place person on their back and do 5 abdominal thrusts, finger sweep and attempt to blow again
BURNS:
If no open wounds, cool with water, but don't let the person start shivering
CHEMICAL BURNS:
Wash immediately with large amounts of water. Flush eyes for at least 20 minutes
SEIZURES:
Move objects away from person, DON'T PUT ANYTHING IN THEIR MOUTH, turn on their side in case of vomiting
BLEEDING:
Apply direct pressure to stop bleeding
CHEST PAIN:
Stop any activity that they are doing, sit the person down, loosen any tight clothing they have on, reassure the person
BROKEN BONES:
Suspect a fracture - do not move the person. Apply ice, not directly on skin. If a major joint, DO NOT MOVE THE PERSON |
