CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS - DETENTION CENTER

Steele County Detention Center is taking applications for Corrections Officers to fulfill a Department of Corrections (DOC) contract.  These positions are full-time and contingent on the DOC contract.  The positions involve the care and control of inmates (male/female) in the Steele County Detention Center.  The employee is responsible for making decisions based on Department of Corrections Rules and Department Policies and Procedures.  Assignments are performed according to established policies and procedures. 

Special Note:  The Steele County Detention Center accepts applications at all times for Correctional Officer positions.  As we receive them we will batch them and set testing dates and interviews.  Selected applicants will be added to the eligibility pool as positions become available.

HOME HEALTH AIDE-PT

Steele County Public Health Nursing Service is seeking a part-time Home Health Aid for the Adult Health Division.  Responsibilities include working with individuals and families in the clients’ home providing personal care activities and other duties as assigned.  The position requires certification as an HHA, valid MN driver’s license, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  The position is part-time up to 19 hours/week (scheduled on an as needed basis); starting wage is $12.69 per hour.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST STEELE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH

Steele County Public Health Nursing Service is seeking to contract with a Registered Physical Therapist.  Responsibilities include working with adult clients in their homes.  Requires current MN physical therapy licensure and a valid MN driver’s license.  Home care experience preferred but not required.  More information may be obtained by calling Steele County Public Health at (507)444-7650.  Applications will be accepted until position is filled and may be sent to Steele County Public Health, 635 Florence Ave., Owatonna, MN. 55060.  FOUR SEASONS/PARK & REC PART TIME ARENA & PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER

The Steele County Four Seasons/Park and Rec Department has openings for part time arena and park maintenance workers.  The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of tasks requiring some skill and knowledge acquired through work experience.  Assignments frequently include the use of standard or specialized hand tools, ability to operate light equipment, and the ability to associate with the general public.  Work includes setting up and maintaining an ice sheet, care and maintenance of arena and other recreational areas.

Requirements for this position are a High School diploma and a valid driver’s license.   Desired qualification is experience in maintenance of park and recreational facilities and ice arena.

2016 SEASONAL HIGHWAY POSITIONS (Maintenance, Engineering, Clerical)

The Steele County Highway Department is currently hiring positions for the 2016 season. Positions include maintenance, clerical, and engineering. Hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Pay range:  $9.00-$14.58 DOE.

GIS INTERN (Approx May - August)

Steele County Land Use & Records Department is seeking a GIS Intern. The position is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and maintenance of the County’s integrated geographic information system.  Duties of the job involve the creation and management of GIS databases; the production of maps, data and GIS training/support to county departments, governmental agencies, private entities and the general public.

Applicants should currently be enrolled in, or recently graduated from a program in geography, GIS or closely related field, experience not required, but preferred. This is a temporary full time position with a wage range of $11.00 to 13.00 per hour, DOE.

SUBSURFACE SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM (SSTS) SPECIALIST

Steele County Land Use & Records/Planning & Zoning Department is seeking a SSTS Specialist. This position is responsible for administering MN Rules, Chapter 7080, the Steele County Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Ordinance, and other applicable statutes, rules and regulations to include performing duties such as plan reviews, permit issuing, installation inspections and the investigation of complaints.

Associate’s degree in environmental science, soil science or related area with a minimum of four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Must possess or obtain within one year of hire, the MPCA SSTS Inspector Certification. This is a full time position with a hiring range of $20.24 - $22.22 per hour plus benefits.

PART TIME OFFICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST (DODGE) - MNPRAIRIE

Minnesota Prairie County Alliance is accepting applications for a Part-time Office Support Specialist (28 hours/week) to provide administrative support in a fast paced environment. Minnesota Prairie County Alliance is accepting applications for two full-time Eligibility Workers to provide administrative and technical work evaluating and explaining program benefits and eligibility requirements to applicants and clients. MNPrairie is an innovative public agency focused on providing extraordinary and professional customer services and achieving positive outcomes.  The position will be a member of the Income and Health Care Assistance Team at the Steele County site.

Qualified candidate will have an associate degree in health, human service or business related field and considerable experience working with at-risk populations and the general public. Salary range is $17.65 – $28.11 per hour plus benefits, which includes PERA pension.
