CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS - DETENTION CENTER

Steele County Detention Center is taking applications for Corrections Officers to fulfill a Department of Corrections (DOC) contract.  These positions are full-time and contingent on the DOC contract.  The positions involve the care and control of inmates (male/female) in the Steele County Detention Center.  The employee is responsible for making decisions based on Department of Corrections Rules and Department Policies and Procedures.  Assignments are performed according to established policies and procedures. 

Special Note:  The Steele County Detention Center accepts applications at all times for Correctional Officer positions.  As we receive them we will batch them and set testing dates and interviews.  Selected applicants will be added to the eligibility pool as positions become available.

HOME HEALTH AIDE-PT

Steele County Public Health Nursing Service is seeking a part-time Home Health Aid for the Adult Health Division.  Responsibilities include working with individuals and families in the clients’ home providing personal care activities and other duties as assigned.  The position requires certification as an HHA, valid MN driver’s license, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  The position is part-time up to 19 hours/week (scheduled on an as needed basis); starting wage is $11.68 to $12.51 per hour.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST STEELE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH

Steele County Public Health Nursing Service is seeking to contract with a Registered Physical Therapist.  Responsibilities include working with adult clients in their homes.  Requires current MN physical therapy licensure and a valid MN driver’s license.  Home care experience preferred but not required.  More information may be obtained by calling Steele County Public Health at (507)444-7650.  Applications will be accepted until position is filled and may be sent to Steele County Public Health, 635 Florence Ave., Owatonna, MN. 55060.  FOUR SEASONS/PARK & REC PT ARENA & PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER

The Steele County Four Seasons/Park and Rec Department has openings for part time arena and park maintenance workers.  The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of tasks requiring some skill and knowledge acquired through work experience.  Assignments frequently include the use of standard or specialized hand tools, ability to operate light equipment, and the ability to associate with the general public.  Work includes setting up and maintaining an ice sheet, care and maintenance of arena and other recreational areas.

Requirements for this position are a High School diploma and a valid driver’s license.   Desired qualification is experience in maintenance of park and recreational facilities and ice arena.

The position will be a member of the management team, with a staff of 50+ team members. Work involves managing, administering and monitoring interrelated public assistance programs and related budgets, overseeing staff performance and outcomes, assisting with service and policy implementation under the direction of the Executive Director.

Qualified candidates will have Bachelor's degree with coursework in public administration, family social services, sociology, or related field and extensive experience working in financial assistance or child support in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Salary range is $71,946 - $108,824 + benefits.

ADULT & DISABILITIES SERVICES SUPERVISOR - MNPRAIRIE

If you want to use your experience and knowledge to provide professional work in the administration and supervision of adult protection, mental health, development disabilities and elderly services, apply now to join Minnesota Prairie County Alliance.  We are an innovative public agency focused on delivering extraordinary and professional customer service and achieving positive outcomes. The position will be a member of the Adult and Disabilities Services Unit, with a staff of 4 team members at the Steele County site. Work involves administration and supervision of social services programs involving interpretation and assessment of policies and supervision of services in multiple program areas under the direction of the Adult & Disabilities Services Manager.

Qualified candidates will an accredited Master's Degree in Social Work or clinical psychology, counseling psychology, human services administration, or closely related field (i.e., applied behavioral sciences) and one year of experience as a social worker or a Bachelor degree from an accredited college/university and four years of experience as a social worker. Salary range is $54,595 – $77,822 + benefits.

DEPUTY SHERIFF

The Steele County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for one full-time Deputy Sheriff.  Shifts may vary according to schedule needs.

Applicant must possess or be eligible for a Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) License and must possess a current Minnesota driver’s license.

HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE AID/TECHNICIAN

The Steele County Highway Department is seeking applications to fill either a Highway Maintenance Aid or Highway Maintenance Technician position depending on qualifications. This position is responsible for operating a wide variety of highway maintenance equipment used in maintaining County roads and bridges. The positions perform routine maintenance activities such as culvert repair/replacement, crackfilling, shouldering, graveling of roads, snow removal, bituminous patching, traffic control and much more.

Maintenance Aid requirements include a high school diploma or GED, minimum of 1 year experience operating construction and/or maintenance equipment, and requires a Class A commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement. Maintenance Technician requirements include a high school diploma or GED, minimum of 3 years’ experience operating construction and/or maintenance equipment, and requires a Class A commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement. Hiring range is $14.29 – 18.46, DOE.
