Steele County Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning office is located in the lower level of the Steele County Administration Building, 630 Florence Ave, Owatonna MN 55060.
Planning & Zoning/Building Inspection administers land use and zoning ordinances for rural portions of Steele County, and Uniform Building Code for the rural areas as well as the cities of Medford and Blooming Prairie. Some of the land use regulations include feedlots, individual sewage treatment systems, subdivision, floodplains and shoreland. Permits commonly handled by this office are building permits, septic system permits, variance requests, rezoning requests and conditional use permits. The department also maintains addresses and street naming, and numbering county-wide for the E-911 system.
